Introduction
Chinese medicine is always looking at the unique individual. The same named disease may often have many different etiologies. For example, a specific disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, may require very different treatment strategies since the major causative factors will be quite different depending on the individual constitution, the surrounding climate, the emotional life one has led, etc. No one treatment will ever cover the majority. Chinese medicine needs to be carefully practiced, utilizing careful observation and especially being open to what each patient is really asking for.
In fact, a person’s whole life needs to be examined, since we are the sum of our experiences and thoughts. But that examination needs to come from your own wisdom and insight in order to truly resonate and be effective.
The following case histories have been included to give very common scenarios - hopefully this will give you an idea of the strategies involved and how we work. Although each person's life is completely different, and it can seem overwhelming and complex when you are the one suffering. But no case is ever impossible, and it is often more simple once you begin to understand how your body reacts to certain circumstances. After that, it is just a matter of staying the course a bit. Once given what it needs, the body will undoubtedly begin to heal.
